ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a brain-based condition that can directly affect executive function and behavior to the point that it may limit concentration, memory, learning, social skills, hyperactivity, organization, and effort related to school work or class participation. Symptoms of ADHD may present differently in boys and girls, and are often aggravated by concurrent symptoms of anxiety, insomnia and low self esteem.
Oftentimes, symptoms of ADHD are a result of too much of a slow-processing speed called Theta. With a qEEG brain map we are able to see how Theta is operating for both children and adults, and where it may be dysregulated. This gives us the information we need to address symptoms.
Additional learning challenges include dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, executive functioning disorders and short term memory issues. Due to the frustration a child may have, or the stigma associated with learning challenges, there may be the potential to develop associated stress, anxious behaviors, or avoidance of certain learning activities. Neurofeedback is a wonderful tool to allow kids and adults to help regulate these patterns without having to focus on the challenge itself.
